Dunmow Kyokushinkai Karate club was started in 1985 by Sensei Andrew Turner and a group of students from Bishops Stortford Kyokushinkai where Sensei Andrew, at that time a 1st Dan, was training under Senpai Dave Bedbrook (then a 2nd Dan).

The first session was in the Talberd Room in Dunmow although the club had no permanent Dojo (a situation sadly mirrored by the present day) and was attended by over 60 people

Club Instructors At this time Sensei Andrew was still competing in knockdown tournaments at national and international level and attending squad training sessions with the likes of Nick DaCosta, David Pickthall and Terry Prescott now all excellent instructors with their own clubs. But it wasn't too long before he had the opportunity to pass his knowledge and experience on to a new generation in the form of multiple national and international champions Senpai Sean Dillon and Senpai John Izod.more....
