Greg Hitchings TournamentGreg Hitchings Memorial Cup, 2012

On Sunday, 20th May, we were proud to host the first annual 'Greg Hitchings Memorial Tournament'

Although it was a sad day for many it was also one where we remembered a true Karateka and a wonderful friend.

Greg trained with Dunmow from the age go 6 and passed his Black Belt at 14. He won 8 British titles and fought for England over 9 times, He was Captain of the team 3 times and won over 60 Trophies and medals not just with The British Karate Kyokushinkai but other styles.

Through his love of Karate he made many friends throughout the country and some of them will be fighting, refereeing and supporting.

We have all lost a massive part of our lives in Greg dying so young and tragically. We have missed our young Senpai but we will never forget him as this Tournament is our tribute to him and will be held every year in his memory.

On 17th July we presented a cheque for £2450 to Essex Air Ambulance - see here.
